Terms of Use
Pulsar · Effective date: 3 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Pulsar mobile application ("Pulsar" or "the app"), published by ARK PLATFORMS, EUROPE LIMITED, company number 16762355, registered office at Office 12 Initial Business Centre, Wilson Business Park, Manchester, M40 8WN, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Pulsar you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What Pulsar does
Pulsar checks the status of APIs and services that you configure, by calling a single authenticated /pulsar endpoint that you add to your own software, and shows the result on your device. Pulsar works locally on your device, without an account and without our servers. Pulsar is free of charge and has no in-app purchases.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Pulsar on devices that you own or control, for personal or professional purposes, in accordance with these Terms and with the usage rules of the store you downloaded it from.
You may not: copy, modify or distribute the app except as allowed by law; reverse engineer it except where the law expressly permits it; remove copyright or other notices; or use the app to build a competing product by copying its design or code.
3. Your responsibilities
- Only monitor what you are allowed to. Configure Pulsar only for endpoints that you own or that you are authorised to access. You are responsible for the URLs and tokens you enter.
- Keep your tokens safe. Use tokens created for Pulsar, never your passwords or production database credentials. If a token may be compromised, replace it in your service and in the app.
- Use HTTPS in production. Plain HTTP is only meant for development servers on trusted networks.
- No abuse. Do not use Pulsar or its developer tools (for example the latency benchmark or the TLS inspector) to overload, attack, scan or disrupt systems, or in any unlawful way.
- Comply with the law and with the policies of the services you monitor.
4. Monitoring is best effort
Pulsar shows what your endpoint reports when it is checked. Checks depend on your device, its network connection and its operating system: while the app is closed, iOS and Android decide when background checks run, so monitoring on a phone is never continuous. Notifications can be delayed, grouped or not delivered, for example when notifications, background refresh or battery-saving settings are restricted.
Pulsar is a convenience tool. It is not a substitute for professional, redundant monitoring, alerting or incident management, and it must not be relied on for safety-critical, medical, financial or emergency purposes.
5. Your data
Your projects, tokens and history are stored only on your device; we do not receive them. How Pulsar handles data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. You are responsible for backing up anything you need; uninstalling the app or using Delete all data removes it permanently.
6. Intellectual property
Pulsar, its design, code, name and logos belong to ARK PLATFORMS, EUROPE LIMITED or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Third-party components are used under their own licences, which you can read in Settings › Licenses inside the app. The DM Sans typeface is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
The Pulsar Protocol documentation and the framework guides included in the app may be used to implement the /pulsar endpoint in your own software.
7. Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering Pulsar or any feature at any time, for example to fix issues, improve security or follow store rules. We do not guarantee that the app will be available on every device or operating system version.
8. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, Pulsar is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that it will detect every outage or that notifications will arrive in time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, business or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Pulsar, including outages that the app did not detect or report. Because Pulsar is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to fifty pounds sterling (GBP 50).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Termination
You can stop using Pulsar at any time by uninstalling it. Your licence ends automatically if you breach these Terms. Sections 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 survive termination.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the effective date above and publish the new version on this page and inside the app. If you keep using Pulsar after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree with them, stop using the app.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
13. App store terms
If you downloaded Pulsar from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Pulsar or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Pulsar.
- If Pulsar fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding Pulsar.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to Pulsar, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- If a third party claims that Pulsar infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded Pulsar from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of the store.
